Another rare, obsolete item...and a very cool display piece for any Ford lover's home, shop or office!
This is an early version of Ford's 'goodwill handout' ashtray for their Industrial Engines Department, a group that was later promoted under the name 'Ford Powertrains'.
Who were they and why should we care? Because Industrial Engines sold just that: complete engine assemblies. And we should care because of who was buying them.
From the 1950s through the '70s, their customers included Allard Motor Co., DeTomaso Automobili, Sunbeam Motor Cars, and ::checks notes:; a guy named Carroll Shelby.
Yep, it was Industrial Engines group that supplied engines to various race teams and a long list of companies around the world, who were building cars 'Powered by Ford '.
