    Piston Sampler Takes Undisturbed Samples from as Deep as 16.5' (5m) Below Water Table
    The
    200cm Piston Sampler
    body is made from a thin-walled stainless steel tube with an open-ended bottom. The piston rod moves through a welded lid at the top of the sampler. When the piston rod is hoisted by the rope connected to the eye, a vacuum is created in the tube below the piston. The overpressure created in the upper part of the tube is balanced with the surroundings through the outflow openings in the lid.
    In order to use the sampler at any desired depth, the tube is equipped with a bayonet connection to which the extension rods and handle can be quickly connected. To permit free passage to the piston rod, this connection part is welded on the outside of the tube.
